How to attend the Women's Action and Media Conference (WAM 2009) this year! by Geo58

How I did it:

Signed up for the three day conference months ago, and on Friday March 27-Sunday March 29, 2009 drove to Alewife Station, took the train to Kenmore and went to the conference at the MIT Stata Center. They were guest speakers, authors and I bought some books. Rachel Kauder Nalebuff, she's only 18, her new book, "My Little Red Book," made the NYC Bests Seller list, she appeared on the Rachel Ray show, the proceeds of the book sales she is donating to charity to help educate young woman and girls on telling their first menstrual cycle story (their first period.)

Lessons & tips: rape prevention training should start for bioth girls and boys in the elementary schools through HS and College Years. Climate Change is a serious problem and need to be changed here in the US.

Resources: They gave us WAM bags full of resources and we had a chance to choose which sessions we wanted to go to each day. They were "free movies" made by WMM and breakfast, lunch was provided on Friday-Sunday.

The WAM conference moved onto Chicago, Ill. for 2009 My Dad had a fall and hip replacement surgery, so my feminist activities stopped once he was hurt and in rehab.

He lives with me, (or I live with him?) and am now his care taker, 24/7/ He goes to a dementia clinic for rehab and respite 4-5 times a week for 6 hours each day he goes. It gives me a chance to do errands and pick up groceries, etc.

However, I still am in touch with the feminist movement, subscribe to B*tch Magazine. Yes, it was loads of fun! I miss those times and the great woman authors,
