How to move to New York City
How I did it: I just decided to just go for it. I had always wanted to live in New York, but I never figured out how I would do it. Originally, I was going to wait until I got my bachelor's degree, but I decided why wait? So I just got up and left.
Lessons & tips: It is very helpful to either know people that live in New York, or to befriend some on line. Some good places are MySpace, Facebook, and Craigslist. New Yorkers love to complain and awe at New York. I had a female friend who helped me out a lot. Turned out she moved when she was 19 and she said if she had someone to help her out, she would've have been better off.
It helps to have a good stash of money tucked away (something I should have done), but if you don't, don't panic too much.
Try looking around for jobs before hand.

Map books--a lot of them were touristy type books, but they still helped me, nonetheless
