How to fall in love with my best friend
How I did it: I met Steven in our high school chorus. I was an officer my senior year and I remember thinking that he had to have been a loser with the name Steven Powers, especially if he was coming into Troubadours as an 11th grader. Boy was I wrong. The first day I met him, it was over. We became really good friends (little did we both know, we had crushes on each other!!). So we hung out for a while, probably a couple months. We would talk in class and at rehearsals. We were in two separate chorus classes. I remember that I would go into his class at least twice a week to "talk to my teacher." Really, I had to see him...and I wanted him to see me (I only went on days that I looked cute :) ). It was the night of our first Christmas Concert and he asked me to tie his tie for him. I did. He was messing with me and flirting with me the whole time. I was about to get annoyed but I couldn't help but think how cute he was! I also couldn't help but think how a guy like him, football player, funny, gentleman, popular guy could like a girl like me. So I let the flirting roll off my shoulder. We walked into the auditorium to meet with the choir before the concert. He sat down and I kept walking and he said "Margaret, where are you going?" I said (bluntly) "to sit down." He said "I saved you a seat (and smiled that perfect smile of his)." So I sat with him. He asked me to go get ice-cream with him after the concert. He also met my parents when the concert was over. That next day he came over to my house to watch a movie before our other concert. Saturday, he went with me to clean up the stage etc. Then he tagged along with me to go shopping (I had a Holly Ball that night that I had to get a nice dress and shoes to wear). He was such a sport, helping me pick out my outfit. And then...on the ride home...he grabbed my hand and held it for the first time. From then...it was over. That was almost two and a half years ago and we are still going strong. I am in love with my best friend!
