How to be more informed about politics and current events
"I have a better handle on what's going on in the world, but much less of a definite idea about what to do!"
How I did it: I decided to create a list of news sources I value and check in with them regularly -- usually in the morning when I first get to work. I found blogs to be the most useful in terms of getting analysis -- I started at The Atlantic and then looked at blogrolls and followed links, and tried to find interesting writers with opposing viewpoints.
I also gave myself a little time to achieve this. You can get pretty caught up on headlines generally within a couple of weeks, but to understand the main arguments around a lot of issues, you need to be listening to the general conversation for a while, I think.
Lessons & tips: Don't expect to understand how to fix the economy. Ever.
