How to have a totally different life by this time next year
How I did it: Not sure exactly when I threw this goal up on my list, and I never even thought to evaluate it until I recently did an inventory and decided this one was actually done in spades -- mostly just by doing other things on my list.
#1 -- Learn to Love My Job -- Resulted in a significant career change from the financial chaos of owning my own company on the more technical side of IT to the more stable analytical/business side with an established company.
#2 -- Stop Neglecting My Blog -- Has
introduced me to an entirely new social network of local bloggers which
pretty much changed the way I think and write.
#3 -- Play Piano Again -- Like the blog thing, resulted in my foray into the exciting fast-paced world of the local music scene. And, while that particular hobby didn't last long, many of the people I met became part of my inner circle/peer group.
#4 -- Invest in the Stock Market -- Okay, while I didn't get rich quick, the research I did while trying to teach myself how not to make stupid financial decisions actually changed the way I spent money, saved money, and planned for future needs and goals.
#5 -- Apologize to My Exes -- Reunited me with my college sweetheart, who is now (15 years later) my wife, and her daughter is now a new addition to my family and household.
So, to sum up: New job, new friends, new wife, new family, new financial standing. Here's looking forward to checking off the next half-dozen items from my list.
Lessons & tips: Make your 43-Things list and stick with it -- the rest will tend to itself.
