How to sing
How I did it: I always knew I wasn't a bad singer, but I never had the guts to sing in front of people. My best friend is confident, and sings all the time, knowing she's tone deaf but she doesn't really care. I wished I could just not give a care in the world.
I've always been a very shy person, and playing the guitar, writing new tunes and not being able to sing along was getting annoying.
Then a few weeks ago I was involved in a school concert and a small group of us had written a song, in which I played guitar. Each person had a little bit to sing but one of the girls singing was ill on the day of the rehearsal, so I volunteered for it. I was so relieved after I'd done it, then I realised everyone was smiling at me. I was completely embarrased but then they told me I had a 'beautiful voice!' I took over the part in the concert and now I'm a really confident singer! I'm in a band now and we are playing a gig soon. I've got to sing a bit, I'm so proud of myself.
Lessons & tips: Even if you're shy, you can overcome your fear. Just keep on singing in the shower, humming along to your favourite songs. Singing karaoke is a good way to boost your confidence, and get your friends to realise what a talented singer you are! Once people start telling you that you can sing, its amazing and you feel as if you can do anything!
