How I did it: 3 month exchange trip to france.
i met so many new people and friends, and improved my french. it was amazing. i used a prgram that was offered at my school, they gave me the work that i needeed to do while away, and i went =)
Lessons & tips: go on an exchnage where the person comes to your house while your there, and you go to their house while they are at home - so you know someone when you go over.
