How to try yoga
How I did it: I've been thinking about doing yoga for about a year now but it took me ages to get round to actually looking for a place to do it.
I used to live in a town called Dorking, and was going to join the yoga class with a friend, but then plans changed, I went to university and moved to Portsmouth.
When I got to Portsmouth I had a look online for yoga classes near where I lived and there were a few around but I still never got round to signing up to anything.
One time I was talking to my friends about it and one of them wanted to take up dance classes, and I'm really bad at dancing, so I agreed on the condition that he would take up yoga with me, he agreed.
At this point I became more serious in searching for yoga classes, yet procrastination took over for a few weeks, until I walked past an advertisement on the sports center near my house. It was for yoga and tai-chi and had a website, so I wrote the website in my phone and a few days later remembered to look at it.
After that we went along to a lesson, paid for 5 weeks of yoga and then went along to the classes!
I'm not sure whether we'll carry on this term - I enjoyed it but I'm not sure whether it was really.. a worthwhile cost.
Lessons & tips:
- Try not to give up looking until you find somewhere - find the club and sign up all in one go or it'll drag on for weeks.
- Find someone who will go with you for encouragement.
Resources: The internet! And also friends and advertisments (for once an advert was useful!)
