How to watch a space shuttle launch
How I did it: When I was 12 years old(1982) I was so excited that the space shuttle was going to launch while we were visiting Florida from Idaho. Launch was delayed due to weather and we left without seeing it. In March of 2009, launch was scheduled for the week before our family reunion in Orlando. Once again launch was delayed. This time it meant we would be in town during the launch.
We set an alarm for 30 minutes before launch, walked out side looked to the east and waited. Then shortly after the scheduled launch time a bright light became visible in the east. The light was surprisingly bright and continued upward leaving a spectacular trail that reflected the setting sun in brilliant colors.
Lessons & tips: If your going to be in central Florida during a launch take the time and step outside. Even the Florida residents who have seen many launches still get excited.
