How to make a difference in someone's life
How I did it: went to mental hospital, it was shit. made a good friend though and before she made friends with me and another girl she was having a harrd time meeting her recovery goals and socialising. the other girl left early then in our hosital time it got worse and we both went through times of severe depression (i was in for an ED) and the hospital staff were making it worse. we were our only support systems so i think i made a difference in her life (and she mine)
later on when i hadnt seen her in a few weeks she attempted suicide by overdose and only told me, though i wasnt there with her. i had to call an ambulance and its a scary though that i might have saved her life (i hope if she hadnt told me she would have told someone else though, but i cant tell)
i made a difference in her life by helping her get through her illness and helping her feel happy by talking to her or just by listening to what she had got to say. she doesnt speak to me as much now so i hope shes ok, but i definitely helped her out of hospital and i still remind her often that im happy to keep talking to her. i also maybe saved her life.
Lessons & tips: be a good friend.
you should get good friendship back.
make people feel special and make/draw/buy them little cards/pictures/letters/gifts to cheer them up.
talk to them about you (if they are the sort of person to appreciate that and you dont go on!) so they feel like they are trusted by you, and then trust you too.
good luck
