How to go on a road trip across the U.S.
"One of the best experiences in my life!"
How I did it: We planned forever then finally decided that we were going to do it!
- Pinched Pennies
- Did odd Jobs
- SAVED, SAVED, SAVED,
- PLANNED, PLANNED, PLANNED
- Lots of Determination
Lessons & tips:
- Have a plan especially with children.
- Expect breakdowns if you drive.
- Stop get out and look around.
- Have a cooler and snacks. Very expensive to stop at gas stations to get snacks.
- If you get lost pull out the road map and find a different route. Getting lost is part of the fun.
- Ask lots of questions.
- Be nice to the local people. You are afterall their guest, be a welcome one.
Resources:
- Hotel desk clerks KNOW EVERYTHING!
- We had a large van so we had a big cooler that was easy to get to. Use the biggest one you can.
- Discount stores (Wal-Mart etc...)
