How to spend less time on the internet
How I did it: By all means, I used to spend all of my time on the internet. however, I now live in an area where it's not an option for me to buy my own connection at this time ( with contracts, etc. ) and I've found that going on the internet has become more of a luxury. Usually, I only use it when I need to get things done - look up information, check my bank account, check my e-mail, etc. Having a PDA phone helps - not only does it keep me focused and on task, but organized too - and the mini-browser is a click of a button away. Plus, that itself drives me off of the internet in a short matter of time - since it takes a long time to load even one page!
Lessons & tips: It's really a matter of self-discipline. If you feel like you can't do it, cut yourself off of the internet for a couple days, and see how you do. If you feel like you desperately need to sign back on, maybe it's time to evaluate yourself. Being on the computer all day is not living life in fulfillment, IMO. If you have important things you MUST do on the internet, this is different - but getting distracted and fooling around will just chip away hours of your day, and then you'll come to and realize "Where has all my time went? Why couldn't I get anything done?"
