How to live in a city where I don't know anyone
"It was kind of a cheat, because I was a volunteer who lived in a house with the program's other volunteers; I had built-in friends. "
How I did it: I moved to Alaska! I found a volunteer program that paid for your relocation, put you up in a nice house, and allowed you to work in a radio station. Again, it was kind of a cheat: I moved into a house with young people, and the town was so small that a significant portion knew about my arrival before I was even there. Regardless, it was interesting to be in a situation where no one had any expectations of me.
