How I did it: Got my visit visa for the US in February well ahead of my visit in August. So, if there was any glitch, I could reapply.  But there was not problem, I got the visa and too off in August for a 30 day visit.  Met my sister after 5 years and saw my 4 year old nephew for the first time. It was totally worth it. 

Lessons & tips: Plan well. My brother had purchased the VIP tour passes that took us to a lot of places paying less, plus we didnt have to wait in line.  So, research on the net and get those to whichever city or place you want to go to.
