"Give it a try... you'll feel amazing!"
How I did it: I was already vegan and eating a high percentage raw when I decided to go raw for a "test period". So the switch was not so difficult for me. Going raw for 10 days was more about seeing how I could cope with social situations as well as giving me a big kick in the butt to try out new recipes!
I had a potluck Easter dinner and two meals out with friends during this time. I was 2 for 3 with keeping to the raw vegan regimen for those meals. Not bad!
I also had several work functions to deal with, but I found that if *I* was chill about being raw... then no one else really made a fuss. I brought my own foods to share at the potluck, including an amazing dessert which everyone raved about. They couldn't believe it was vegan, let alone raw :)
So how I did it: was by keeping things simple and easy, trying new recipes and being chill about the whole thing.
I won't be eating 100% raw from now on, although I will keep eating a very high percentage raw. I want to have some wiggle room for those times when I'm out with friends or on special occasions. Day to day, I will be raw, but I'll be A-OK with some deviations. You have to live too!
Lessons & tips: Eat simply and eat things you like.
"Splurge" on a fruit you always wanted to try!
If you aren't used to eating a lot of fruits and vegetables... take it easy! Your body will not take too kindly to all that fiber. For me, my body was already used to getting lots of fiber from this sort of eating... but if yours isn't.. go easy!! Do it in stages: maybe 1 meal raw/day for a while, and then two and once you're ready go the whole way. Take your time.
Also: THINK OUTSIDE OF SALAD!! Greens are super important, but find ways to eat them that will mix it up! Green smoothies, lettuce wraps, etc...
Having a good blender and/or food processor will make this EXPONENTIALLY easier!
Be kind to yourself and listen to what your body tells you :)
Resources: The internet for sure. There is tons of information out there on the different styles of raw. I'm definitely a low-fat raw vegan and had no problems finding yummy EASY recipes. Here are a few (of the many!) sites I frequent:
