That tat is wicked cool.
How I did it: I started to collect pics of cool art and tattoos. I learned what a good line looked like and how tattoos fade. I finally decided on a Mehndi (henna tattoo) inspired look. actually designed two tattoos. I loved the last design, but the outline was complicated for a tattoo.Once I had the outline finished, I made copies and colored it in many times. I then looked on the internet to find an artist to do the Tattoo.
Lessons & tips: 1.Make sure your first one is in a spot you can cover. I love mine, but you may not like it.
2. Don't put your ointment on thick. Put on a super thin layer. If it's on too thick it will 'sweat' more. SUPER THIN!
3. tattoos on bones hurt (like your being cut). some of mine was in the rib area. It made the rest of the tattoo very easy (more like a hot water burn).
4. love your design. look at it many times a day for a week before hand. If you get sick of it then, it's not the right choice.

I love the Henna tattoos, I always thought if I had the guts to get inked, I’d like a henna. You have beautiful designs and I love that you drew them yourself.

I’m about ready to get my first tattoo.
I’ve done my deciding and I know what the whole picture is that I’m aiming at.
I almost got one last year, how long did yours take and how do you deal with staying still for so long? (is that a silly question?)
I’m thinking I’ll get my first as a small one, somewhere hidden like you say. I think it will have to be a celebratory event like finishing my novel or getting my degree (both at the same time would definitely be worth celebrating.)
From what I could remember it took two hours and the artist took a small break in the middle. I got to lay down on my back, so staying still was easy. It’s a very sensory experience, with the pain and sound. You are IN every moment, so it does not get boring. It’s kinda like flight or fight. Your mind tells you to do something about getting away and you have to fight that urge. He started on the rib area (the tail of the bird). it was the most painful part. For the first five minutes I thought I made a huge mistake, that I couldn’t take the pain and have only a bird tail tattoo. It still hurt after that, but it became much more bearable. Even to this day, I regret nothing. I’m still loving my little bird.
