How I did it: I used the website "animecons.com" and it was extremely helpful. The site has every convention for every year listed, along with links for the actual convention site. I saved up my money and did it.

Lessons & tips: It's okay to wing it once you are at the con, but having at least a general plan will get you far. Also, you have to make sure that you budget because it's far too easy to spend $200 in the first day. If possible try to make friends with the staff and then work as staff at the next one. A big portion of what you spend is on your badge alone, cutting that cost will help you save.
