How to be able to run the mile under 10 minutes

How I did it: Alternate walking an jogging each minute for twenty minutes everytime I get on a treadmill. Worked up to run 6mph for 1min then jog 5mph for 1 min, 20mins total. By the third week, you sould be able to run 6.5-7.0 mph 1 min, then 5.5-6.0 mph the next.
After a month, I have no problem running 6.5 mph for 10 mins. That's more than 1mile in 10. :)
Lessons & tips: Sprinning helps a lot to increase your speed. Go faster than you think you can for a min, then slow down to your comfortable rate for a couple mins. Repeat until you get bored... :D
