How to drink absinthe

AHHH! IT BURNS! 
"I love anise but absinthe tasted like crap! I'm glad I did it but I'm not doing it again."
How I did it: My boyfriend bought a bottle one day. Personally, I would have never completed this if he hadn't of forked over the $80 for the bottle.
It wants me to write more about how I did it. Well, I got myself a glass and added some absinthe and water to it. Then I added a sugar cube and stirred it.
It still tasted like crap even after I added more sugar.
Is this meeting the minimum character requirement yet?
