How I did it: I applied for internal corporate exchange program, got approved and BAM! - 3 months living and working in Berlin.
Unlike the other European capitals Berlin is one of the most affordable places in Germany. You can always find cheap hotels and great choice of quality food. Public transportation is very well organized, so you practically do not need taxies.
Lessons & tips: Open your heart for everything the city offers - history, food, art, even nature...
Make a draft plan what you want to see while you are there. No need to be too detailed because Berlin offers tons of things just as you walk down the street.
