How to do well at tafe
How I did it: I was lucky - I had to move to go to TAFE, so I didn't have to worry as much about being distracted by my friends and family. I got to see them on the weekends, but the weekdays were pretty much just for TAFE and nothing else. That was the biggest factor in my success, I think.
When it came to assignments, I tried to do them on things I was passionate about or find fun. For example, our class was given an assignment on Animal Welfare where we had to choose a recent news article as a source for it - my partner and I did ours on the newts that were helping kick a retired couple out of their home! It was a lot of fun doing and presenting that assignment.
Time management is very important. To make the most of my time, I read my books and notes when I was on the bus some days. In class, I made sure I understood what the lecturer wanted from me.
I think that the most important thing is mindset - I went into every exam believing I was going to pass it, and did pass it. A couple of other students went into every exam believing they were going to fail, and almost always did. So believe in yourself, and trust yourself to achieve, and you will!
