How to run a 5k
How I did it: I ran cross country in high school, but I hadn't run since then. 10 years later, I started running again, using the couch to 5k program. I stuck with the program religiously, and was soon able to run 3.1 miles again! But after the program ended, I was rather at a loss, and I didn't run as often. This spring, almost a year after I started, I finally signed myself up for a race. And it was so awesome! I even beat my times from back in high school!
The hardest part was just registering for that first race. My nerves were all over the place that morning, but once I started running, I was fine. And once I crossed that finish line, I was elated!
Lessons & tips: Just register for a race. Once you're signed up, you're more committed to training, and it gives you something to work towards.
