How to paint a picture
How I did it: I first started painting again (I say again because I haven't painted since I was 13 at school) about 2 months ago. I created an experiment with tones and textures. Then last weekend, I stopped in at a gallery. Unfortunately I'd missed the exhibition I wanted to see, but they had something equally intriguing. When i enquired about the last exhibit they showed me the photos on their website and told me they still had one piece left, which happened to be my favourite one, only I didn't have the $4500 in my wallet (or my account) so I decided to go paint my own.
Lessons & tips: Know where you're artshop is, go down there and take a look. See what you can use. You can get a lot of ideas about how you will create the picture just from seeing how you are going to do it in your minds eye.
When you feel the creative urge, go paint. But don't feel restricted to paint. One of my paintings uses mixed media and I'm pretty sure my next one will too.
Resources: Pearl art supplies. They have a huge store right near me and sell everything imaginable and the staff are pretty helpful too.
