How to go through phase 1 of South Beach Diet
How I did it: I lost 7lbs in phase 1, but quit the South Beach diet after and gained back 5lbs. I'm going to do it again, and hopefully this time stick with it.
I spent a lot of money on food these first two weeks, and learned to love the Ricotta Creme. In fact I still eat it sometimes even though I don't follow South Beach anymore.
Lessons & tips: Don't extend it past 2 weeks, and eat lots of different foods, even if you wouldn't normally eat them. For instance I normally don't eat a lot of fish, but since you are eating a lot of protein, chicken breast and sirloin steak gets boring. Take advantage of everything on the allowed foods list, because you're going to be craving carbs.
