How to feel beautiful
How I did it: I realized that I was beautiful when I realized other people perceptions (and mine) were wrong. I always thought I was tall and skinny b/c people told me that but I realized I'm not that tall and I have an hourglass figure!
It all started when I wanted to improve my looks. I checked a book out from the library called The Science of Sexy. Basically it uses your weight, height, and body measurements and you fit into one of the 48? shapes (way better than most books-5 shapes!) I saw the first edition, there is a newer one but I haven't read it.
When I took my measurements I realized how wrong people and I were! Wearing the right clothes makes a difference too. I now know what makes me look like I have a waist vs. what makes me look long and lanky. My husband told me I had some curves but I believed I had none.
Lessons & tips: People opinions are poorly formulated opinions and not fact. Beauty is different to different people and I think everyone has beauty. I
noticed that once I accepted myself I notice and appreciate (not get
down) about other women’s beauty.
My feet grew fast when I was young so I always thought I had big feet. I had this perception for a long time until I found an article online – “For example, in US sizes, there is only about 1/3 of an inch difference between whole sizes. So if you wear a size 10 shoe, and wish you wore a size 8, look at what 2/3 of an inch looks like on a ruler -- does it look like that much of a difference to you?” So my feet aren’t really that big.
We are still women so we think about how we look! I still have “uh, I look horrible” days but they are far and few. Also always take a compliment even if you don’t believe it. That person choose to tell you and it makes a person feel bad to tell you something nice just to dismiss it. You will get more compliments after you are more confident. There’s something about you people will notice even if they don’t know what it is.
Pick out feature you love about yourself and emphasize that. Soon your list will get bigger! I wouldn’t dwell on this though or analyze too much. But if you analyze your perceptions and others, you’ll be surprised. I think it great that I know I look good when I wear a certain dress. I also don’t wear makeup b/c I’m beautiful how I am. (But if makeup makes you feel beautiful go for it!)
I’m not perfect but the overall package is me so I accept how I am. Remember no one is perfect but lets notice each others beauty and our own.
