How to learn bass trombone
How I did it: Learning bass trombone was amazing! It really helped my tone on tenor. I also feel that challenging into Jazz I was a good experience even though Ally, to this day, still holds a grudge against me for it.
Even though it was self-fulfilling, it probably decreased my overall status by Mr. Kim's potential desire to keep me as a bass trombonist next year no matter how skilled on tenor I become because he wants Jazz II to have one. If he does that, I'll be hella pissed! Hopefully, that won't happen.
Lessons & tips: 1. Practice for a lot of time.
2. Keep playing tenor as you play bass, otherwise you will forget how to play tenor.
3. Practice long tones all the time.
4. Make all low notes and pedal tones loud enough to be heard over the rest of the band, but not loud enough to stand out completely.
5. Don't get pissed off if people diss you because you're 4th chair. After the first chair, you're the most important in terms of balance and after the bass, the most important person in the band in terms of intonation.
