How to go skinny dipping
How I did it: The girls on my hall my freshman year of college had been talking about going skinny dipping all semester. the night before christmas break, we were saying goodbye to the girls who wouldn't be returning to school the next semester, when someone suggested we finally bite the bullet and do it. i was slightly hesitant, but knowing that i would be one in a big group of girls made me feel more comfortable...like i wouldn't be noticed as much, or something like that.
we drove down to coronado beach around midnight and parked along the street. as we walked down to the beach, some police stopped us and asked what we were doing. we told them we were going for our last swim together, as some girls would be moving away the next day. (we failed to mention there would be no swimsuits ;) ) they told us to stay out of trouble and to have fun, and that's just what we did!
so we finished our trek down to the water and laid our towels down in the sand. here it was, the moment of truth...we all just started stripping off our clothes and running into the warm..ish waves, laughing and shouting all the way. i was having so much fun, i didn't feel weird or uncomfortable at all. we played in the water for awhile, jumping waves and doing a little body surfing, until we started getting a little chilly. then it was out to the towels, to dry off and get dressed.
it felt so refreshing and liberating to just strip off and play in the ocean in the middle of that december night with some great friends. what a bonding experience! it is one of my most memorable moments, and i would love to do it again sometime. :)
Lessons & tips: for me, i felt comfortable because i went with a group of friends. there was no awkwardness about it, and it just felt very natural. give it a shot!
