How to go on a bike trip
It made me
feel alive 
"I've never felt so challenged in my life, but never felt so much exhileration!"
How I did it: I had been planning this trip for awhile. I ended up investing a lot of money (bike, bike accesories, camping gear), but it was definitely worth it! I followed the 88 temple pilgrimage route around Shikoku. Unfortunately due to time constraints I was only able to go from Tokushima to Kochi city. I will have to finish the route another time because I had the time of my life!
Lessons & tips: Just do it. I prepared myself as much as I could but I still felt like I didn't know what I was doing as I set off. But I learned a lot of important lessons, and now I'm much better prepared for next time.
Resources: The book 'Adventure Cycle Touring' was very useful. There are also many good websites out there you can check out.
