How to be a vegan for a week
How I did it: THIS IS DIFFICULT. really, don't take it lightly, or underestimate just how hard your body will find it.
that said, it's one of the most worthwhile things i have ever done. i was sponsored by friends and family to do it, so i felt twice as driven to complete my week, as not only was i reducing my carbon footprint and helping protect animals, but i was raising money for charity as well. hurrah!
Lessons & tips: phase it in. i made the mistake of doing it overnight, forcing my body to go cold turkey on all of its usual additives and such. perhaps not surprisingly, it did not respond well!
make sure you still eat. this may sound ridiculously obvious, but i found that seing as planning out and making meals had become more difficult, at the end of a long day i just couldn't be bothered. this of course only lead to futher exhaustion, and significant weight loss.
Resources: the vegan society have been fab- if you email them they offer a free mentor system, LOTS of recepie ideas and such, and even a certificate of acheivement at the end!
