How to exercise regularly
How I did it: After trying for years to develop an exercise habit, I've found three tools that helped me finally achieve success;
- www.sparkpeople.com provides a wealth of information on health, fitness, nutrition, etc. This site has various tracking tools so you can see exactly how you're doing, whether it's tracking weight, inches, nutrition, or other goals
- Wii Fit motivates me through novel exercises (Hula Hoop) while offering me Yoga, Strength, Balance, & Aerobic exercises in one location. Wii Fit will track my jogging while allowing me to use my trampoline, which is easier on my knees
- Facebook gives me the social motivation by connecting me via chat to my friends. We can then provide each other support and encouragement, even though we're 3000 miles apart.
Lessons & tips: No excuses! It's easy to make excuses ("I'm too tired; too busy," etc). Resolve to wake up 10 minutes early so you can walk around the block. Do standing leg lifts while washing the dishes. Run around the yard with the kids or the dog.
With regular exercise, you'll soon find your energy levels increasing. Let this motivate you to increase your activities!
