How to run a 7 minute mile
How I did it: I have discovered that it is very useful to synergize and combine efforts together as I have 4 young children and time is at a premium. So I practise mental mantras or storytelling while I run. One of my mantra patterns has to do with reaching a certain number and I mention the name of someone who inspired me in the past by their effort and perseverance. There are two people I think of - both have since passed on. One is my father who got me running in the first place and the second was a young beautiful woman who was a great heart. My mantra is simple : Peter Greenwood moves through pain one, Peter Greenwood moves through pain two.
I just keep on counting and realize that by the time I reach a certain number I will have finished the run and the pain will be over.
I recently ran a 1 hour and 49 minute half marathon and that is the longest distance I have run since I was 14 years old.
