How to give myself a piercing
"WARNING: I DO NOT CONDONE TO SELFPIERCING (even play) IF YOU HAVE NO EXPERIENCE PIERCING AT ALL! "
How I did it: I have completed a six months apprenticeship at a reputable piercing shop before I took it to the next level: my own body.
I have pierced myself a lot (play or permanent). I will put this guide up for people more as a warning then a guideline. Please read if you intend on poking holes in your own body without being properly informed.
Lessons & tips: - Safety pins, sewing needles, piercing guns, and the such are NOT AT ALL a good idea. Instead of slicing a nice crescent-shaped hole like a blade or catheterneedle would, they will simply rip the tissue. This can obviously cause complications. They are also not the same gauge as standard piercing jewelry. Not to mention how unsterile they are, which brings me to the next thing.
- Sterilizing with fire or even boiling will not kill all germs and bacteria. Just stay away from not prepacked piercing materials.
- Don't get me started on cross-contamination; gloves are important, even if you're piercing yourself.
- Measurements and placement are the key to a goodlooking piercing. This is tricky and hard to learn, that's why there's professionals.
- To pierce yourself you need training, it is not at all easy to pierce as quick as you can when you're hurting yourself. Piercing slowly will cause unnecessairy trauma.
If you still want to DIY-pierce. INFORM YOURSELF and if you're done doing that, INFORM YOURSELF SOME MORE!!
You will need a prepacked blade or catheterneedle, forceps, gloves, sterilized jewelry, surface desinfectant,...
By all means, go to a pro. It's dangerous to stab yourself. Even if it's an aesthetic thing.
