How I did it: I applied myself consistently over a 6 weeks period- this was much too short, but I had enough time for 5 hours practice a day..! I studied daily for the viva voce, and did an awful lot of sightreading practice. I applied the required three-ish months before the exam, went in and did it at Christmas.
