How to act in a play
How I did it: I took acting classes at a drama studio. There were three levels, each level being 10 weeks, and at the end of each level we did some kind of a performance. Level one was a monologue, level 2 a scene and level 3 was a full fledged play.
The first two levels prepared me for the play. It was a nice progression and eased me into the real deal. I was still terrified when it came to the big night but when I stepped on stage I kicked into autopilot and calmed down, all the rehearsing really paid off. I made a couple of mistakes but I don't regret a thing because I had not felt so alive in a long time. I found a new hobby.
Lessons & tips:
- Learn your lines early
- Understand the character you are playing
- Bond with your co-stars
- Practice practice practice
- Have fun
