How to pierce my septum
How I did it: I'd always wanted a facial piercing, preferably my septum, but knew that my mom wouldn't budge. My helix was as far as she was going to let me go, and she made that clear.
After realizing that I'd never be able to get this piercing with their consent, I decided to set up shop in my bathroom and do it myself.
I spent months researching the piercing, reading personal experiences, purchased saline solutions, hollow piercing needles, and 16g barbells.
After school one day I was told I would be home alone for hours and decided to use it to my advantage - I sterilized the entire bathroom, found the correct placement of where the piercing should be, slid the needle through my nose, and let off a smile that could light up New York!
If you want this piercing done, trust me, go for it! Unless you're not allowed and your parents find out - then it's not so fun. :]
Lessons & tips: I would NEVER recommend for you to pierce yourself, EVER! Yeah, I did it, but I've pierced my helix (2x), lobe doubles (1x), bellybutton (1x), and septum (2x).
I've never had a piercing get infected, but that doesn't mean that it won't happen to you! I'm pretty lucky, but also well-educated on piercing.
And no, this isn't the usual DIY at-home piercing that most of you have read about. I'm not game when it comes to sewing needles and lighters.
So please, if you're set on piercing your septum yourself, take the oh-so-very necessary precautions before you do so!
