How I did it: A friend recommended me to diaperswappers.com where I bought lots of my diapers on the FSOT sections for reduced prices. I took me about 3 months to build up a good stash for when my baby arrived. Everyone on the forum is also very nice and helpful, so any questions that I had were answered there.
Lessons & tips: I would love to help anyone get started with cloth diapering. It's exciting to be able to share with like-minded mamas.

Or did you air dry them? I heard they last longer if you air dry them.
I used prefolds with covers. I would usually dry the prefolds in the dryer, with occasional sunning to remove stains. The covers were mostly air dried, although did go through the dryer occasionally. The same prefolds and covers lasted through 2 babies, and while the prefolds seem like they could be used another 5 times, the covers are probably about done.
