How I did it: I went to Drury University because it was one of the two colleges that had branch campuses in my rural area.  I enrolled as a secondary ed major and left as an elementary ed major.  I had great teachers, made great friends, and eventually transfered up to the main campus to finish up my degree.  I never once thought about dropping out because I knew that if I did, I'd have to start paying on student loans in 6 months, haha.  Anyway, I kept on going and finally it appears that you have to graduate!  It was a great experience and I'm not near done yet because I am going to start my Master's in the next year  and eventually work towards my doctorate. 

Lessons & tips: Just go.  If you're not enrolled in college yet, just go down and talk to the admissions office.  If you don't know what you'd like to major in, go anyway... you'll figure it out by the time you have your general courses out of the way.  Oh, and after you go, keep going!
