How I did it: lack of money and transport and a boyfriend who was the most awesome walker. also now i have my own dog and i enjoy my walk just as much as he does! i did it by not having the money to use transport uselessly, i realized that a 40 minute walk to college wasn't something i had to march through i found walking at my own pace was sometimes quicker than stressing myself out about how i was going to get somewhere quickly. i realized that it's not about being "teleported" in a car, i reverted back to how i am, felt afinity with my enviroment for the first time. walking is the only way to bump into things you "hear" about but never see, like an unlikely baby blue tit with a broken leg on a busy city road, alas the humans walk the earth again and do what we can to fix the things we see!
Lessons & tips: nature is beautiful. i was driven everywhere as a child and as my dad says i was "brought up in a car" now i realize i have legs and i find journeying to places by foot is the journey i hate being whisked of by car and i get car sick now i'm more aware of movement. hate buses, although i use them as transport when necessary. i have discovered so many new ways of understanding whats going on around me by walking. i can't believe how people drive, they thhink they're in a computer game! it's mad experiencing the world as you are meant to. i don't walk fast unless i need to, usually i take my own pace, you don't have to say hello to people just because you're walking, you don't have to try and walk better, it comes naturally, ii like approacing trees they're no longer "just trees" i find them amazing now constantly weathered by the seasons and stood there so magnificent i would never know these things without walking and living and breathing. walking is just moving yourself from one place to another you can walk however you want! i feel like i'm floating when i walk often like a leaf i find so many things even though i live in the city and i am more aware of what my environment is as i have walked it.
Resources: nature and city maddness!
