How to quit Smoking
How I did it: I developed a horrible cough and had three episodes where my lungs closed up and I couldn't breathe! I tried using my inhaler to open my airways but it just wasn't working. Every time I smoked, my lungs seemed to tighten up and I was miserable. After one particularly bad night, I realized that it had been 12 hours since my last cigarette. I just kept going until it was 24 hours and then 1 more day.....Today is day 24 and I am thrilled that I have been able to stay away from cigarettes! I have not even had ONE puff!!! So I just keep moving forward one day at a time and when I feel stressed, I grab a mint or some gum....anything but a cigarette!!! I did see a Doctor a few days after I quit and he diagnosed me with adult onset asthma and asthma induced bronchitis. I find my breathing is much better and I sleep better! I wish anyone who wants to quit, good luck! You can do this if you really want to but YOU have to want to quit!!!!
Lessons & tips: I had to tell my husband (who still smokes) that he has to smoke outside of my house and he can't smoke while I am in the car. He hasn't quit yet, but he has cut his smoking almost in half!!!
