How to get a teaching job
How I did it: I worked my butt off in graduate school and I networked like a madman. In the end, my stellar letters of recommendation from my TA and tutoring jobs and informal recommendations I got from two colleagues ended up scoring me a teaching position at a local community college (in the middle of a budget crisis, no less!). I also have been hired by the school that just granted me my MA to teach an upper division class over summer (and hopefully fall as well!)
Lessons & tips: Work on campus in graduate school. Study hard. Become valuable. NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK.
