How to turn the garage into an art studio/computer workshop/project lab/teenager hangout/garage.
How I did it: First, I cleared everything out of the garage. I rented a PODS unit and just left it in the driveway to keep the stuff in temporarily. Then I hired a contractor to put drywall on the walls. Then I painted the drywall with Super White, and did the window sills with a vermillion color. Next came the longest process: cleaning and painting the concrete. I actually had the contractor do the first, hardest level of cleaning with a special concrete cleaner. Then I rinsed it out and put on two coats of epoxy/latex paint. First coat was a bright blue, second coat I had some black and purple added to it for a more sapphire color. Then I did two coats of floor polish.
Lessons & tips: Find a good, licensed contractor if you need anything done. Use the internet to find products: just google the exact things you're looking for. Pace yourself and have some music to work to!
