How to buy a beautiful home
How I did it: I took all my salary and put it into the bank as a downpayment, and we lived extremely tight off my husband's money.
Then, we realized we would never be able to buy a home in the Washington DC area where we lived. We loved it there but all we could see is more years of renting expensive places until we got old. So we moved 2 hours away to Pa. He still works in DC area, and I work at home. He comes home 3-4 days a week and works there 3-4 days. It's not optimum, and one day we hope either he can come here all the time, or we can afford to move there again and purchase. Or a third option, is move somewhere else.
Lessons & tips: 1. Save more than you think you need for a downpayment. Resist spending on stuff.
2. If your area is way out of your price range and you feel helpless at being able to afford a home, look outside of your area and come up with other options.
