How to quit Smoking
"I decided I wanted to quit so I did"
How I did it:
Deciding I wanted to quit was the first and major step towards accomplishing my goal. Then I read a few resources about quitting to smoke and built a plan upon it so that I can take action with confidence.
*I attempted to quit a few times over the years before actually doing it for good.
It's now been over 2 years since I've stopped.
Lessons & tips:
1. Build an awareness of what it means to keep smoking (what is bad about it?)and what you will enjoy when you stop (then list it)
2. Decide you want to quit (accept the fact that you will never be smoking again)
3. Develop a plan of action (research it well and get prepared)
4. Have a positive vision of what your life will be without smoking (build an image associated with good feelings that is representing your goal)
5. Stay focused upon your goal and away from smoking
And Don't be afraid to seek support from others ;)
Resources: Information from various online websites and a hypnosis cd entitled "Stop smoking forever" by Glenn Harrold.
The cd from Glenn Harrold really helped me as it discussed a great way to deal with cravings (taking deep breaths when it appears) and listening to it was a good way to put my mind focused away from smoking.
