How to take a cross-country road trip
How I did it: Came back from Iraq with some money in my pocket, got a car, and me and a buddy just left. We had a few things we wanted to see, but no actual destination in mind. Just kinda wandered the country for 6 weeks until an accident in Missouri. Rented a car, went back to Jersey. Waited a few weeks, retrieved my car and decided to detour up to Niagara falls and all the northeast states.
Lessons & tips: Prepare yourself for a lot of driving. Learn the love of coffee, but know when to pull over and nap. Have a full sized spare, basic provisions, and a good first aid kit. Read about areas you'll go through, bring an atlas, and see the sites.
Resources: Honestly money is the driving force here. Obviously a car and fuel and whatnot too. But without the green, it's hard to get around.
