How to run three miles
How I did it: I told a friend, who happens to be training for a marathon, that I would like to start running. So this friend shows up at my door the next day and drags me on a 1.5 mile run. I protested the whole way, but was glad I went when it was over. The next day I ran 1.7 miles with the same partner. Day three a took a break, because I was so sore (from not running or doing any meaningful excercise in nearly a year). Day four I ran 1.7 miles again, this time alone. Day five I ran one mile and thought... wow! That was easy! So day six, being today, I decided what the hell? I ran three miles, with inspiration from my marathon runner friend. I was winded (I'm a smoker and I have seasonal allergies). And I was wiped, but I feel like a million bucks. Running is one of those things that seems like a bad idea before you do it, but is a great idea after. So the plan is now to run three miles a day, almost every day.
