How to learn to knit
How I did it: My room mate in college was an avid knitter. When I saw her working on a baby blanket, I asked her to teach me how to knit. She took me to the craft store and we bought some needles and yarn. Then she was extremely patient in teaching me the knit stitch, over and over. Unfortunately, I picked out yarn that split easily and everytime I didn't know if a stitch was one stitch or two, I knit two. I ended up with about 200 extra stitches!
With my room mate's help and the help of the book "Stitch and Bitch" by Debbie Stoller, I eventually taught myself to cast on, knit, purl, bind off, cable, etc. Now I knit almost every day and use it to relieve stress and relax!
Lessons & tips: Don't give up. At first you'll feel awkward trying to maneuver the needles and the yarn but practice helps!
