How to run a 20k
How I did it: After running the 5k race three years earlier, I had it in my mind that I'd do the 20k. The next year I got pregnant during the beginning of my training and had to push it back a year. The year after that I injured myself and couldn't do it again. I never thought I'd get this one done.
This seemed so out of reach, but I set my mind to thinking that I was going to do it and it all just came together.
It took a lot of early mornings of getting up and running, even when I didn't feel like it.
It might have taken me more than 3 years to do it, but I'm glad to say that I finally did get it done!
Lessons & tips: Actually train for it. I didn't put as much time into it as I know I should have. About a month before the race I was no where near where I should have been. I could have had much better results if I hadn't half assed my training.
Resources: Good running shoes, great music, my ipod, and of course encouragement from friends and family.
