How to be more fashionable
How I did it: Basically, I just bought a lot of clothing. I tried to buy things that I considered fashionable and could basically "stand alone" as a good garment. I am useless when it comes to putting outfits together, I've learned, so I just found a few looks that I liked and bought enough shirts, pants, dresses, shorts, shoes, etc that I could just switch out a shirt for another and have a different outfit...but basically with the same premise.
Lessons & tips: The only real tip I can offer is to pay attention to what other people are wearing. If you like it, look at the pieces required to put it together.
If your problem is that you have a hard time making yourself wear fashionable clothes...just get over it. No one is looking at you or thinking you look stupid. And if they are...they probably look worse than you. You're the only one who knows whether you're pretending to be fashionable (how I usually feel) or if you really are. Just fake it until you feel a bit more "at home" in the fashionable stuff.
If after 6 months you still feel like an impostor then it's probably not for you. Go back to jeans and hoodies and enjoy feeling good in your own skin. :)
Resources: I got inspiration from "street fashion" websites that show what fashioned people on the street are wearing, particularly in Europe.
