How to give blood
"I used to give blood when I was a student many years ago, but after contracting malaria whilst travelling thought I wouldn't be able to donate again. "
How I did it: I contacted the blood donor service who said I was now able to donate and then, striking while the iron was hot, went along to the first session in my local area a few days later. I can't wait to donate again in September.
Lessons & tips: Allow yourself enough time, or better still make an appointment. The sessions can get very busy and you may have to wait a while to be seen.
Resources: The blood donation website tells you everything you need to know and provides lists of the next available sessions in your area.
