How to knit a scarf
How I did it: The short version of it is that my grandfather died and, on the day of his Wake, I was pretty much on edge due to the backbiting and cat fighting already occurring with some members of my family who then tried to pull me into it.
The stress had gotten so bad, that I actually didn't get sleep the night prior and filled my time with watching instructional videos on the Knitting Help website to calm me. After a few hours, I picked up on how to cast on, and how to keep going from there, as well as how to cast off.
Lessons & tips: Aside from having the whole situation with the funeral arrangements, I'd say pay attention to online tutorials. Especially the Knitting Help site. I had taken a class prior to viewing the site but it was the site that really enforced the skills in my mind.
